Organization at a Glance

Rangpur Association of the Deaf is a Deaf Peoples Organization (DPO) working in Rangpur district of Bangladesh. The organization was established on 05 June 1998, involving 25 persons with hearing and speech disabilities in the Bangladesh National Federation of the Deaf (BNFD). Now, the organization has a total of 90 members; among them are male, 80 male, and 10 female. The organization implements its activities to ensure equal participation of men and women with disabilities.

According to the organization's bylaws, 72 members comprise its General Committee, and 15 are on the Executive Committee. The organizational activities are implemented by the staff and volunteers following the directives of the General Secretary/ Executive Director. Through the direct involvement of men and women with disabilities, the organization is working to promote the rights of persons with disabilities and improve their lives with support from government and non-government organizations.

Besides, the organization strives to partner with mainstreaming organizations for Disability Inclusion in their programs by ensuring the active and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities and providing capacity-building and technical assistance.

Working area

Rangpur Association of the Deaf is working in Bangladesh's Rangpur district. It is working in the Unions of under 8 sub-districts (upazila) of Rangpur and the Rangpur city corporation area.
